These melt-in-your-mouth chocolate truffles are not only insanely easy to make, everyone loves them (especially, of course, teens) and they’re so incredibly festive. Package them in a pretty holiday box with a ribbon and give them as gifts or bring them to a holiday gathering. No one will ever believe they’re only a few simple ingredients!
I’ve been making these truffles nearly every holiday season since I was in my late teens! This is one of those old-fashioned recipes that has withstood the test of time. I love them because, well… they’re easy, but also because they’re fun to make and they’re pretty. You can spruce them up in a variety of ways by experimenting with different coatings and even tossing in a little liquor.
**This recipe yields a fairly large quantity of truffles, but you can create a variety of different flavors by rolling them in different coatings. See my notes below for ideas!
Ingredients
- 3 (6-ounce) packages semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Finely chopped nuts, chocolate sprinkles, colored sprinkles, flaked coconut, colored sugar, crushed candy canes
Instructions
In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips with sweetened condensed milk. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Chill 2 hours or until firm. Shape into 1-inch balls; roll in coatings of your choice. Chill 1 hour or until firm. Store in covered container at room temperature with wax paper between layers of truffles.
Notes: Get creative with these truffles! To really dress them up, you can:
