Your baby is growing up. Gone are the days of sweet snuggles, clinging to your leg when they’re frightened, or begging you to lay down with them at night to read them a book. There’s a strange metamorphosis that takes place when your child becomes a teen. They’re growing faster than you can buy shoes and yet, they’re still painfully immature. What we don’t realize, though, is just how much they still need our help navigating through this tumultuous time in their life.
While nothing can take the place of innate parenting that comes from knowing your child better than anyone else does, we’ll share a few “lessons learned” from parents and seek the advice of experts to help us stay focused on what’s important and help us steer clear of becoming the dreaded overbearing, overprotective parent.
